Secretary's Report 2007 |
|
As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary it will be well remembered for the floods and disruption to our fixtures. Thank you to all the members and staff who gave of their time to help out during this time.
It will also be remembered for the successful Summer Ball in June which was touch and go, weather wise.
It will also be remembered that the Club Champion, Ken Watson won his fourth title by 4 strokes in our 40th year.
Due to the floods several alterations had to be made and one of the most important functions of the year was the THE ANNUAL CLUB DINNER NOW TO BE HELD ON THE SATURDAY THE 13TH OCTOBER 7 for 7-30pm.
THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THE TUESDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2007. (Please note the changes)
As you may be aware we had around one metre of water in the greens sheds and we lost several tonnes of fertilizer and grass seed, apart from some machinery, tools and pumps. The Tee Stop was saved by our neighbour as it floated down the 9th fairway, thank you Roger Helme. The greens office floor is bouncing up and down and ready to cave in. But time marches on and these items have to be restocked and replaced and we are getting back to normal, hopefully our insurance will cover our losses.
The Greens Staff restored the course to its immaculate condition, in time for the Open Texas Scramble, re-scheduled for 1st September, the Captains’ Days and the Shropshire & Herefordshire Union Open Championship on the 15th September, when the Professionals also play. All three competitions were played and the course was given due praise from the players.
I would remind members that we now have a very good website, thanks to Ian Gullis. If you are reading this, then you know already – but perhaps you could encourage your fellow members to check it out.
We have found a company that meets our needs and price range to introduce a swipe card system. Members are encouraged to take up and be a member of the scheme as they receive discounted prices for drinks and bar menu food. Application forms are now available. £3 for your card, no limit as to how much you want to advance but the minimum is £10.
See you all at the AGM ON TUESDAY 4TH DECEMBER AT 7-30pm. Have fun and play well.
